It's ok to take time to figure out how YOU grieve

Many times when we suddenly find ourselves in a position that we are grieving loss, we don’t have a clue how to begin or process through our grief.

Grief is universal.

We will all have loss in our lives and it’s important that we process through our losses. Denying or avoiding grief/loss is not a permanent healthy solution.

While it is important to process grief, it is also imperative that we remember we all process grief differently and for varying lengths of time. Although there are many things that have been posted and written about the grieving process, we have to be vigilant in finding what works best for us.

It is not a good idea to attempt to pattern our grieving to how others are grieving. It is a uniquely individual process.

If you find yourself stuck and not moving forward after a significant amount of time, it might be helpful to use journaling and meditation as a starting point.

A therapist trained in grief counseling can also be extremely helpful getting started and navigating through our grief. Support groups can also facilitate our grieving process.

It is very helpful to listen to others who are at different stages of their grieving process. We often can find hope in a group of individuals who are working through their own individual losses.

Grieving is difficult and can be very painful. It is important to be patient and kind to yourself as you navigate through your losses.
